Hello, I’m Kay
After completing a degree in Constructed Textiles and working in the retail industry, I decided to set up my own business in 2007 concentrating on making leather purses and handbags. My work has evolved over the years but I still enjoy playing with texture, colour and repetition. Layering, weaving and hand punched techniques are used to create differing surfaces.
Over the past year I have been working on a new jewellery range, inspired by a need to repurpose all the remnant leather from my purse making practice. All my products are handmade by myself at home in Bristol. Every piece created is cut and assembled by hand ensuring it’s uniqueness.
I enjoy experimenting with colour and shapes, which are all individually hand cut to create dense areas of interesting texture, maximising the sculptural qualities of soft nappa leather. My work is heavily influenced by both print and texture. Drawing inspiration from objects I collect, such as old buttons and vintage fabric I then enjoy contrasting colours, patterns and textures within my products.
My purses and accessories are constructed with quirky coordinating patterned linings. All fabrics are carefully sourced so combinations keep changing in order to keep items individual. Every item is hand-crafted and individually constructed, with every detail carefully considered ensuring each item is both functional, beautiful and tactile.
I enjoy creating beautiful containers such as purses and bags for people to carry around their treasured possessions, which are as beautiful on the inside as they are outside.
